Charts & Tides App Reviews

10 Customer Reviews:

I like this program on my iPad. It work well for browsing cruising areas, and looking at the tides. It’s definately not a full blown navigation software. The issue I have with this version is I am unable to restore my previous purchase of 2015 US Charts. It will download about 80% of it before it crashes and gives me a store error. I would love to give this a better rating, but, I have never gotten a response from the developer after two emails.

I tried to download several times..had to pay for it twice…once I opened and looked at I deleted the charts….they are next to garbage and totally not user friendly. You are better off using your eyes when cruising.

After having the software for one season and paying the $79 for the charts .the charts uninstalled themselves! the in app purchase will not properly reinstall and hangs at 81%. - No support At all and won’t answer any Emails. -this is an expensive app without support, and lots of glitches.

Ive been using the iPhone app, and love it. Its clean, The ActiveCaptain data is awesome. Of course, the iPhones small screen size was a bit of a constraint. Im excited about the Mac release, it will make the advance route planning so much easier. This is a great replacement for a very expensive and slow chart plotter.

So glad this is finally available for the mac - makes planning trips so much easier now that I can use it on my laptop as well. Very nice and clean interface and nicely drawn charts. I cannot wait to try it on the water.

This is a very good app for route planning and general surfing around areas of interest. It has an ActiveCaptain link which is invaluable for exploring new areas, has a good new route planner, and most of all, is aesthetically pleasing to use, with clear graphics and nice colors. Some of the competitors should look at this layout as a guide. Have yet to try it out while on the boat, but will report back. Now all that is needed is the iPad app that can pair with this and it will be a winner.

nice charts from noaa. usb GPS (2 different kinds) do not work with this app. same GPS wprk fine with macenc, polar view, open capn, gps navx. contacted developer, admitted it doesnt work with some USB GPS and they are working on a fix. a navigation app isnt worth much wothout GPS location.

This may be a great app; but be advised, a person must pay either $39.99 (US) or $79.99 (US & CAN) in order to access any charts at all. It comes with none. I was looking for an informational reference for my area, so forty bucks seems a bit steep. Note that “FREE" simply refers to the software to open and view the charts that must be purchased. (It does mention in the description -near the end- that charts are not included.)

Had a serious problen when attempting to edit routes by moving waypoints. As a professional mariner with over 37 years experience I am very disappointed with this app. I wanted to get a refund after 5 hours of trying to edit a route and discovering that the actual app didn’t follow its help screens. I suggest that you get a different route planning app.

Looks like it could be a good app but after downloading I simply had a couple question. They provice no phone, no support, and do not answer repeated email. Can’t really go forward paying for yearly charts if there is seemingly no company behind the purchases
